When the Creative Director of an internationally acclaimed and chart-topping, Opera ensemble--The 7 Sopranos--asks you to collaborate on the wording for their latest CD insert, you put on your ruby shoes, click your heels, and skip straight to the keyboard. ![]() Following on from their self-titled, debut chart topper in 2013, today marks the launch of the latest album from The 7 Sopranos: Popcorn - Songs From Stage and Screen. The playlist is upbeat and dreamy, and the costumes and images are pastel perfection. Just think Audrey Hepburn, Bacharach, and Studebakers, and you're somewhere near the mark of this Hollywood-glamour-inspired retro offering. These seven singers are classically trained, and their voices sublime. When the Creative Director--Tarita Botsman--asked me to work with her as the copy editor for the CD insert, I jumped at the opportunity. There is something inspiring about collaborating with people who work at the peak of their field--especially in the performing arts. To get to the top, creatives have to be the best of the best; and the lessons to be learned--from their vast catalogue of adventures and the ups and downs of a creative life--are an opportunity you don't want to pass up. In the world of words, you've got to work with people you trust, and Tarita and I have known each other for over 30 years. A multi-award-winning opera singer herself, Tarita has had an extraordinary career in the world of the performing arts. The second album from The 7 Sopranos is going to be one of her most acclaimed works yet. ------------- You can buy a copy of Popcorn - Songs From Stage and Screen on The 7 Sopranos website.
